Century City

250 hectares of New Urban bliss in the Heart of Cape Town

Strategically located on the N1 freeway, just ten minutes from Cape Town’s CBD, Century City is a secure, privately managed, 250-hectare mixed-use estate. This world-class model of New Urban planning magnificently integrates residential, commercial, retail and leisure components on the banks of eight kilometres of picturesque waterways and canals.

This unique city-within-a city is located at the epicentre of the greater Cape Town metropole, and is serviced by a well-developed road network that provides easy access to the whole of the Western Cape — just one of the reasons that make it a great base for a holiday in Cape Town. Commuters can also take use of a reliable public transportation infrastructure.

Intelligently run and immaculately maintained, Century City is a true ‘smart city’ that meets the requirements and aspirations of the twenty-first century. No wonder it has become a sought-after destination within Cape Town.

Experience Century City

Beautifully landscaped, intelligently designed, and immaculately maintained, Century City offers an outstanding quality of life.

The precinct pulsates with energy, vibrancy, and focus, but also offers moments of utter relaxation.

Here you can experience some of the greatest shopping South Africa has to offer, and within minutes of leaving the retail paradise of Canal Walk, you can experience the intense peace of Intaka Island, an award-winning wetlands nature reserve.

Take a boat ride, see an outdoor movie, pick a restaurant, go canoeing or stand-up paddling, take a moonlit hike, follow an art trail — the enormous variety of entertainment and leisure options are all part of what makes Century City a totally unique destination.

Sports of all sorts

Century City’s wonderful network of walking, running, and cycling trails is a constant invitation to enjoy outdoor exercise in a pristine environment.

The precinct even boasts its own sports clubhouse, looking out over the green field of Central Park, which serves as a venue for everything from touch rugby and alfresco aerobics to organic markets and open-air cinema. It also serves as the start and finish of the increasingly popular five-kilometre park runs.

The Clubhouse is home to Century City’s Athletics Club, Canoe Club, Stand-Up Paddling Club, an Adventure Bootcamp for Women, and the summer and winter touch rugby leagues. It is available for rental for business meetings and training, as well as various events and gatherings.

Century City also offers several gyms, from a flagship Virgin Active to the Edison Way Crossfit, and a much-loved Fives Futbol facility.

Intaka Island: A bird-watcher’s paradise

Over 200 types of indigenous fynbos flora and over 120 bird species may be found on Intaka Island, Century City’s award-winning 16-hectare wetlands and bird sanctuary.

Intaka, which means “bird” in Xhosa, is a one-of-a-kind example of natural protection and urban growth coexisting together. Apart from its environmental value, the region provides a tranquil setting in which to wander, rest, and unwind from the stresses of daily life.

Entertainment at Century City

The Century City Arts Foundation

The Century City Arts Foundation, a non-profit organization, was established with the goal of making Century City a cultural attraction. Its mission is to conserve, promote, and convey the arts in Century City by offering facilities, opportunities, a platform, and a forum for established and aspiring artists working in all genres.

Century City Art Trail

The Arts Trail features mosaic, painted, architectural, and sculptural pieces such as Ibis Rising, a mural mosaic on the walls of The Island Club; Family Reunion, a moving wooden piece carved from a tree trunk; and Feather Lane, a series of circular mosaic meditations set in the paving of a lane leading down to Intaka Island. Explore these and other pieces of art to be taken into a realm of aesthetic magic.

The Galileo Open Air Cinema

The Galileo Open Air Cinema welcomes you to a magical movie experience of cinematic delights and beautiful scenery under a blanket of stars. Hosted in Central Park, this much-loved outdoor activity offers a festive market of mouth-watering artisanal food and drinks by Diva Cuisine. There are also interactive games, live music and an unforgettable vibe. It’s the perfect setting (and excuse) for a memorable evening with friends, a ridiculously romantic date, an intimate birthday party or an after-work get-together.
